A few years back, while out for a run with my small pepper spray for warding off dogs, I found myself in a terrifying situation. Barely 200 meters from home, three guys cornered me against a wall, one with a gun. What could have on me apart from a phone on a run, but you never know anymore. Seems life is so cheap. In a panic, I unleashed the spray and yelled at the top of my lungs. Luckily, someone in the house behind me triggered their panic alarm and this made them think whether the fight would be worth it. I managed to escape unscathed by creating a protective barrier with the spray, keeping them at bay. In hindsight, it might’ve been wiser to just surrender the phone, but I was fed up with that kind of nonsense. I'm just glad I'm still here.

When I got home, I checked the canister—it was bone dry. I’d emptied it in under 10 seconds, though it felt like an eternity in the moment.
